Arco Das Verdades This place consistently earns the highest guest ratings, and for good reason. It’s a family bar where the owner himself prepares the snacks, travels to wineries to hand-pick interesting wines, and invites jazz musicians on Sundays. All of this comes with an incredible view of the Luís I Bridge, tucked inside the old city at the foot of the Porto Cathedral (Sé).

Wine Quay Bar  When I’m in the mood to dive into the buzz of Ribeira, I head down to the Douro to Wine Quay Bar. It’s a family-run spot that has been delighting guests for years with an excellent selection of not only Portuguese wines but also cheeses. The owners of the bar, Filipa and Moisés, will be happy to tell you about Portuguese wines. Definitely ask for cheese recommendations and go for a tasting set. Sitting outside at the wine counter facing the river is a must.

Capela Incomum Imagine a 19th-century chapel in a quiet neighborhood that has been turned into a wine bar. The altar is still preserved inside, but instead of candles, there are wine glasses on the tables. Check the bar’s schedule—if you’re lucky, you might catch a Fado evening. This is an experience you shouldn't miss. Fado in an old chapel turned wine bar: these are the kind of memories you want to take home from your travels.

Prova This is where I go when I want to talk about wine. Diogo, the owner, is a true enthusiast. He can spend hours telling stories about winemakers and terroirs, but he does it so effortlessly that you don’t even notice you’re ordering a second glass. This place is about a passion for taste and the pleasure of discovering something new. They always find the perfect accompaniment for the wine that you simply can't put down. The bar frequently hosts tastings, and it’s always a pleasure to meet like-minded people at these events for endless conversations about wine. Matriarca

This is the place to go when you’re looking for a long evening in a refined, thoughtfully curated space built on a five-generation family history and the traditions of the Portuguese aristocracy. I recommend starting your night in the wine bar for a tasting and an insightful conversation with the sommelier team, before heading up to the second floor for a wonderful wine dinner in the restaurant.
