Terms & Conditions
Effective date: as published on this page. This site is operated by Hedonist Tourist, based in Portugal.
By using hedonist-tourist.com — browsing, purchasing a guide, or submitting a travel design enquiry — you agree to the terms below. If something here does not sit right with you, please write before you buy.
1. Who This Applies To
These terms govern your use of this site and any purchase made through it. They apply to all visitors, whether you are here to read, browse, or buy.
2. What You Are Buying
This site offers two types of product: digital travel guides (downloadable PDF files) and a personal travel design service (a bespoke, consultant-led planning service delivered via document). No physical goods are shipped.
Each product page describes exactly what is included. If you have a question before purchasing, write to hedonist.tourist@gmail.com — I read everything.
3. Accuracy of Information
Every recommendation on this site reflects personal experience. Opening hours, prices, and availability at third-party venues change — I update guides when I can, but I cannot guarantee that every detail is current at the moment you travel.
For anything time-sensitive — a restaurant booking, a winery visit, a seasonal event — please confirm directly with the venue before you go.
4. Pricing & Changes
Prices are displayed in euros and are correct at the time of publication. I reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time. Any change takes effect from the date it appears on the site — purchases made before that date are honoured at the price paid.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this site — writing, photography, itineraries, recommendations, and the guides themselves — belongs to Hedonist Tourist. You may use them for your own personal travel. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or resell any part of them without written permission.
6. External Links & Third Parties
Some pages link to hotels, restaurants, wineries, and other venues. These links are there for your convenience. I do not control those sites and cannot be responsible for their content, pricing, or policies. Follow up directly with any provider before booking.
7. Limitation of Liability
I take care with every recommendation, but travel involves real-world variables I cannot control — weather, closures, personal preferences, changing circumstances. Hedonist Tourist is not liable for any loss, disappointment, or inconvenience arising from the use of information on this site or in any guide or itinerary purchased from it.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal and, where applicable, the European Union. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Portuguese courts.
As an EU-based consumer, you also have the right to use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
9. Changes to These Terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is always the current one. Continuing to use the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Privacy & Data
This section fulfils GDPR obligations under EU law. Language has been rewritten to match brand voice while remaining legally clear.
What data I collect and why
When you visit this site, standard browsing data is collected automatically — your device type, browser version, and pages visited. This is handled by Wix, the platform this site is built on, and is used to ensure the site functions correctly and to understand how it is used.
When you make a purchase, I collect the information needed to process your order: name, email address, and payment details. Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. I never see or store your card number. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data: stripe.com/privacy
When you submit a travel design enquiry, the information you share — travel dates, preferences, group size — is used solely to prepare your itinerary. It is not shared with third parties.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are based in the European Economic Area, your personal data is processed on the following legal grounds:
-
Your consent, where explicitly given
-
The performance of a contract — to fulfil your order or deliver your travel plan
-
Compliance with legal obligations
-
Legitimate interests, where these do not override your rights
How long data is retained
Order-related data is kept for as long as required by Portuguese and EU tax law (generally seven years). Travel design enquiry data is retained only for the duration of the project, and deleted on request. You may request deletion of your data at any time — see Your Rights below.
Behavioural advertising
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. If you prefer not to be tracked, you can opt out via Google's opt-out tool: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Advertising data may also be shared with platforms such as Google and Meta to show relevant content to people with similar interests. You can manage your preferences directly:
-
Google: google.com/settings/ads
-
Meta/Facebook: facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
-
Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out: optout.aboutads.info
Your rights under GDPR
As a resident of the EU or EEA, you have the right to access the personal data held about you, to request its correction or deletion, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, write to hedonist.tourist@gmail.com. I will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with my response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD: cnpd.pt/cidadaos/participacoes
